Bishnu Prasad Rabha (1909-1969)
Bishnu Prasad Rabha - known as 'Kala Guru', is considered as one of the pioneers of Assamese music and art. He was an actor, music composer, poet, dramatist, film director, dancer and writer. His music, today, is known as 'Rabha Sangeet'.

Bishnu Rabha was born in Dhaka of undivided Bengal on 31 January, 1909. He was bestowed the title Kalaguru by Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan at Varanashi following a recital of the Tandava dance. He assisted Jyoti Prasad Agarwalla in the making of the first ever Assamese film Joymoti.

Bishnu Rabha was known for his music and acting in the films like Siraj and Era Bator Sur. He is today remembered for his evergreen songs like 'Xurore Deulore' or 'Bilote Halise'.

Bishnu Rabha died on 20th June 1969.
