Invitation letter - seminar on Srimanta Sankaradeva's contributionsA seminar on Srimanta Sankardeva's cultural works and Sankari culture will be held in the premises of Madhupur Than in West Bengal on Sunday, November 23. The event is hosted by Society for Srimanta Sankaradeva, a community organisation in Guwahati, Assam engaged in promoting universal fraternity preached by Assam's Vaishnava saint Srimanta Sankaradeva. Several scholars from Kochbehar will speak on the life and works of Srimanta Sankaradeva in the seminar.

Eminent Sattriya Nritya exponent Sharodi Saikia along with several artists of Srimanta Sankaradeva Sangha will attend the event. A lecture-cum-demonstration of Sattriya Nritya will be held by Prateesha Suresh from Mumbai in the seminar. Eminent artist Pabitrapran Bora, who is also the Cultural Secretary of Srimanta Sankaradeva Sangha will perform 'Sutradhari Nritya' introduced by Sankaradeva. Manoj Kumar Das of Barpeta, who has performed in many places of India will perform solo Khol (Assamese musical instrument introduced by Sankardeva) recital.

The Madhupur Than, popularly known as Madhupur Dham is known for precious relics of both Srimanta Sankaradevadeva and Madhavadeva. It was founded in the 16th century by Madhavadeva on the instruction of Srimanta Sankaradevadeva. Off late Madhupur Than is facing many problems including encroachment. From a 400 'bigha' compound now it has been reduced to a mere 16 bigha compound. The seminar is looking forward to start a campaign and create awareness on the importance of Madhupur Dham.
