On 20th February 1987 Statehood was conferred on Arunachal Pradesh and it became the 25th State of the Union of India. From that day State Hood Day of Arunachal Pradesh is celebrated all over the State.

Festival of Arunachal is being celebrated from past few years to commemorate the Statehood day celebrations in Itanagar, the State capital of Arunachal Pradesh. The main attractions of this festival are cultural evening, textile and handicraft expo, food stall, flower/orchid show, Sport events and other various competitions.
Arunachal Pradesh has more than 20 major tribes who have their distinct culture, tradition and festivals. So, to have a festival where all communities collectively display the culinary and aesthetic variety and cultural diversity, the Arunachal festival is being celebrated.
The celebration of Statehood Day in Arunachal Pradesh is associated with many exciting events like -
The Food Village showcasing Mo’Mos from Tawang, smoke fish and meat from the Siang and Subansiri, steamed rice form Lohit and many more appetizing dishes from other districts, Handloom & Craft Bazaar.
The Handloom & Craft Bazaar showcasing the world famous wood carvers from Tawang, Bomdila and Tirap, deft fingers of artisans from Assam and cane & bamboo products of Meghalaya.
Flower Show Competition for various groups like orchids, seasonal, foliage ornamentals, cactus, Bonsai, Ferns, Cut-flowers, Flower arrangements etc. Herbal/medicinal plant with forest Department is showcased here.
Indigenous Games Demonstration showcasing traditional games like Wrist gripping, Bamboo skill, Stick wrestling, Rukli, Tug of war etc.
Cultural Evening showcasing the folk, tribal dance forms of various States of India including Snow lion dancers from the snow capped mountains of the Tawang, Rosy cheeked dancers from Subansiri, dancers from Siang & Tirap etc.
