Guwahati Cyclothon 2024 |
The 5th Edition of the Guwahati Cyclothon, held on November 3, 2024, saw over 200 cycling enthusiasts embark on an exciting 80 km journey from Geetanagar School Field to Pobitora and back. Flagged off by Deputy Commissioner (Retired) Paul Barua, ACS, the cyclists made a refreshing stop at Arya Eco Resort in Pobitora, celebrating a day dedicated to sustainability, environmental consciousness, and road safety. The event emphasized eco-friendly practices and healthy living, uniting the community in a shared vision for a greener Assam.
This year’s theme, “Go Eco, Go Cycling,” focused on promoting a healthy lifestyle and environmental sustainability. The cyclothon wasn’t just a ride; it transformed into a carnival with a blend of physical fitness, music, and cultural performances. Team Heroes, a leading fitness center in Guwahati, conducted CrossFit sessions to engage participants in dynamic exercises, while Aru Yoga Centre held refreshing yoga sessions for relaxation and mindfulness. Both sessions reinforced the event's health-centric goals.
In a special feature, Music Malt organized its iconic "Music Malt Live Sessions," where some of Guwahati's finest musicians took the stage. Arghadeep Barua, Jim Ankan Deka, Rupam Kalita, Shristi Bhagawati, Tripti Mona, Indrani Sinha Das, and Pranjoy Das were among the performers who electrified the audience. In addition to the performances, the official theme song of the Guwahati Cyclothon 2024 was unveiled, composed by Shristi Bhagawati, Arghadeep Barua, and Jim Ankan Deka, with the music produced by Music Malt
The event also provided a festive atmosphere with thrilling cycle stunts, traditional Bihu dance, modern dance performances, and more, further enriching the spirit of the cycling carnival.
The event's success was made possible through collaborations with partners like State Bank of India (Green Partner), NEDFi (Eco Partner), NEEPCO (Sustainability Partner), and UBP (Associate Partner), with additional support from OK North East and Cafe By The Way.
As the Guwahati Cyclothon continues to expand each year, it plays a vital role in advancing the city's sustainability efforts, contributing to a safer, greener, and more eco-conscious community. With every edition, the event strengthens the collective vision of a cleaner, healthier Assam. This year’s success further emphasizes the importance of such initiatives, and the dedication of Everything Outdoor Northeast, led by founder Jubee Baruwa, is pivotal in bringing these impactful changes to the city, promoting environmental responsibility for a brighter, more sustainable future.
